Join horticulture expert Heather Prince at 10 AM on June 29th for a summer landscape walk of the Farnsworth House grounds! Experience the relationship of Mies van der Rohe’s architectural forms and the natural splendor of the Fox River Valley. Learn about the site history, the ideas of Lanning Roper’s landscape plan, and the dynamic relationship between the built and natural spaces. Discover the subtle interplay of steel and glass with the river and trees, and the beauty of the ever-changing natural areas.

Heather is currently the nursery manager at Wannemaker’s Home and Garden in Downers Grove. She has been a part of the green industry for more than 19 years, including experience at The Morton Arboretum, Chicago Botanic Garden, The Growing Place and The Pizzo Group. She is a trained horticulturist specializing in trees and shrubs with a passion for connecting people with plants.

Be prepared to be outdoors and walking in full summer heat; sturdy shoes, sunscreen, insect repellent, and a water bottle are highly recommended. This program does not include a tour of Farnsworth House, but guests will receive a discounted ticket to a future guided tour.
